The FDA has not banned more ingredients because Congress has not given them the needed authority.
Your Body Absorbs 60% - 70% of what you put on your skin within 26 seconds.
A recent study by the Organic Consumers Association found that 40% of all "natural" beauty products (tested in the study) contain dangerous cancer causing ingredients. Formaldehydes, lead, aluminum, mercury and many other harmful ingredients are considered natural, but you will see them called by unrecognizable names on labels for both natural and other products.
The products you're using to address one skin or hair concern might be causing others like acne, fine lines and wrinkles, eye puffiness, skin irritation, hair brittleness and damage, as well as hair loss, dullness or other concerns.
The FDA conducted a survey of heavy metals in cosmetics, and found that arsenic, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, lead, mercury, and nickel were present in unsafe amounts in both luxury and budget brands.
Many toxic ingredients accumulate over time and can build faster than your body can clear them out. At first your energy level, mental focus, and short-term memory might just seem a little less sharp. Most of us blame this on age. But then you start getting sick a little more often. You have a few more aches and pains. It takes you longer to recover from illness, injury, or even a night of moderate drinking.
Toxic Ingredients are often hidden by the manufacturer by using not commonly known alias names on the product label.
Arsenic, for example, is labeled under several different names including Atomic Number 33, Fowler's Solution, Numero Atomique 33, Solution de Fowler, and many others."
Several major retailers have labeled some of the products they sell as "Green", or "Safe", but upon investigation we found those products exclude less than 100 of the over 1,400 ingredients banned in other parts of the world. Not much of a solution for this important problem.

Collagen is responsible for improving skin elasticity which reduces visible wrinkles, and keeps your skin plump with a youthful glow. Many ingredients reduce both new collagen production and existing levels. This reduction of collagen speeds up cell aging and results in the production of more lines and wrinkles.
Mineral acids, (HCI, H2SO$, Sulfuric Acid and others can cause an irreversible change in the chemical bonds that hold collagen protein in your skin together, and cause these to break down, leading to sagging and wrinkling of the skin. As we age, often starting in our 20’s, the amount of collagen we produce starts to decrease – leaving our skin less elastic, full and firm. So if an ingredient breaks down collagen, sagging and wrinkles can occur.
The Environmental Working Group found the carcinogen 1,4-dioxane in 28% of all personal care products. The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) found the same chemical in more than 40% of products labeled “natural.” This includes shampoos, soaps, and body-firming and anti-aging lotions.
Phthalates, are synthetic ingredients used by cosmetic manufacturers to help the product last longer. A study from Uppsala University suggests that this ingredient is linked to type-2 diabetes. This study found, among 1,000 participants, that those with higher levels of phthalates in their blood were twice as likely to develop diabetes. This was found even after adjusting for obesity, smoking, blood lipids and exercise habits. They also found that certain phthalates were associated with disrupted levels of insulin production.
It is not just about wrong eating, drinking and lack of exercise that can contribute to high blood pressure. Build-up of toxins leads to poisoning of systems and cause health problems like hypertension and many others. The World Health Organization (WHO), estimates that 82% of all chronic degenerative diseases are caused by environmental exposure to toxic metals.
Chemicals enter the blood stream through the skin as it absorbs the creams, potions and perfumes we apply. If the blood becomes too acidic, arteries can become inflamed and lead to cardiovascular disease.
1, 4 Dioxane causes hormonal imbalances, fertility problems (particularly with males), as well as being a known carcinogen. Senator R Kennedy included it on his list of carcinogens submitted to Congress in 1997 but no action has been taken since then to prevent this chemical being used in onditioners.
According to the American Cancer Society, there’s a strong link between benzene and immune system toxicity, leukemia, and other cancers of the blood cells. Research also supports that an expectant mother’s exposure to benzene may cause developmental damage to the fetus.
